Who we are
The beginning of FP CPA LLP began surprisingly in the summer of 2022 at a Morden coffee shop. Matt was beginning the process of going out on his own to actively take control of the changes he saw happening in accounting and business. Angela had been running her sole proprietor firm for a year, striving to keep up to the growing demand and wanting to offer a full fleet of services.
Between Matt’s experience in accounting and assurance, financial technology, and the emerging power tool of AI, and Angela’s expertise coming out of industry in internal financial controls, tax specialty work, and the building of a successful organization, it was a clear fit.
They have a shared quest to push public accounting into the future of the profession while resurrecting the trusted advisor status of accountants as an integral and constant presence in your day-to-day business operations. The foundation of this begins with the team members involved and creating a safe and fulfilling work environment for them to excel.
With an office in Winkler and a remote team spread across Southern Manitoba, FP CPA LLP is excited to work with you and your business to achieve your unique goals in a way that will sustain through the test of time and economic change.
Matt Penner, CPA, CGA
Matt has worked in the accounting industry since 2007. After receiving his professional accounting designation in 2010, he entered the CICA Tax Specialist program. He spent a year studying while doing tax specialty work. Ultimately, Matt decided to return to accounting and assurance to become a general practitioner rather than a specialist.
Over the years Matt has worked extensively with clients in the Agriculture industry. He lead the local Agriculture Team at BDO and was a member of various provincial and national industry objectives. Matt was instrumental in creating a national agriculture benchmarking tool that helped clients analyze their financial information compared to similar farms in their region.
While Agriculture has been a big part of his experience, he has a passion for small to medium sized growing businesses.
Matt lives in Winkler, Manitoba with his wife and three kids. They enjoy spending time outdoors and travelling to their favourite vacation destination, Canmore, Alberta.
Angela Fehr
(Van Deynze), CPA, CA
From a young age, Angela knew accounting was the direction she was going to take. Enrolling in the University of Manitoba, she graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in 2008, double majoring in Accounting and Finance. She began her articling at what is now BDO Canada LLP in Morden, Manitoba, ultimately achieving her Chartered Accountant designation in 2011, followed by her In-Depth Tax Certification in 2016.
In 2017, she began her journey into the veterinary finance world, becoming the Director of Administration at Central Veterinary Services in Oak Bluff, Manitoba. Surrounded by an incredible executive group, she expanded her knowledge in the industry side of accounting as well as developed expertise in communication, leadership, internal organization, and financial systems.
Angela specializes in fractional controller and CFO services. She is an advocate for basic financial literacy and implementing meaningful programs that create real impact towards this.
Raised on a farm near Bruxelles, Manitoba, Angela returned to the area in early 2021 with her husband, Ramsay and two young children, Nora, and Oliver. They enjoy spending time exploring their quarter section of bush, hills, and trails.
